First Impressions of Bodrum

As a first-time visitor to Turkey, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. What I found was a destination packed with spectacular coastal views, crystal-clear waters and some of the most impressive hotels I’ve ever seen.
Whether you’re travelling as a family, a couple, with friends or seeking a luxury escape, Bodrum offers a fantastic mix of relaxation, entertainment and elegance. With its stylish beach clubs, luxury marinas and growing reputation among discerning travellers, it’s easy to see why many people are starting to compare Bodrum to destinations such as Marbella and Mykonos.
Family-Friendly Stays: Selectum Colours & Selectum Collection
Selectum Colours, Gumbet
Located in the lively resort of Gumbet, Selectum Colours is perfectly positioned for travellers who want to be close to the action. Surrounded by shops, restaurants and nightlife, it provides an excellent all-inclusive base while still allowing guests to explore the local area.
The hotel boasts stunning sea views and plenty of entertainment, making it ideal for families and groups of friends. However, due to the hilly layout and lack of lifts, it may not be suitable for those with accessibility requirements.
Selectum Collection, Turgutreis
For a more relaxed and laid-back holiday, Selectum Collection in Turgutreis is a fantastic choice. Set beside its own private beach, this elegant resort offers a peaceful atmosphere while still providing plenty to keep families entertained.
The food was a real highlight, with the snack bar and Italian à la carte restaurant standing out.

During the trip, we visited several of Bodrum’s standout luxury resorts, each offering something unique.

A particularly popular feature is the on-site Starbucks, which is included within the all-inclusive offering – a welcome bonus for coffee lovers.
Titanic Collection Bodrum
Without question, Titanic Collection Bodrum was one of the most impressive hotels visited during the trip.
Spread across a vast resort that feels like a destination in its own right, every aspect of the hotel delivers a premium experience. From the beautifully designed rooms and exceptional dining options to the attentive service and extensive facilities, everything has been carefully considered.
Highlights include:

What really sets Titanic Collection Bodrum apart is its innovative children’s club, affectionately known as the “Kids Hotel”. Young guests even check in on arrival and can dine in their own dedicated restaurant, helping build confidence and independence in a fun and engaging environment.
For families seeking luxury without sacrificing child-friendly facilities, this resort is hard to beat.

Lujo Hotel Bodrum
For those seeking the ultimate luxury escape, Lujo Hotel Bodrum delivers a truly exclusive experience.
Designed with high-end travellers in mind, the resort combines sophisticated dining, designer boutiques, premium beach experiences and exceptional accommodation. Despite its luxurious atmosphere, families are still well catered for, with spacious family room options and interconnecting accommodation available.
During our visit, we enjoyed lunch in the seafood restaurant, which was outstanding. The resort’s stunning patisserie café, included within the all-inclusive offering, was another standout feature.
From its pristine beach to its refined beach club atmosphere, Lujo is perfect for guests looking to indulge in one of Bodrum’s most prestigious resorts.
Great Value Options in Gumbet
Bodrum isn’t only about luxury hotels.
For those looking for a more budget-friendly holiday, properties such as Agar Apartments and Tropicana Beach Hotel provide simple, comfortable self-catering accommodation in the heart of Gumbet.
Both offer excellent value for travellers who plan to spend most of their time enjoying the beach, nightlife and local attractions.
Exploring Beyond the Hotels
One of Bodrum’s biggest strengths is the variety of experiences available outside the resorts.
Turgutreis Marina
Turgutreis Marina is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, offering:
- Waterfront restaurants
- Boutique shopping
- Beautiful marina views
- Easy ferry access to Kos for a day trip
Yalikavak Marina
For visitors seeking a more upscale experience, Yalikavak Marina is often regarded as one of Bodrum’s most glamorous locations.
