Dubai is one of the most popular sun-drenched destinations for UK families, couples, and groups of friends. And it’s not hard to understand why. It is home to a wealth of attractions and there’s always something to do, no matter what time of year you visit. It’s the perfect destination if you’re looking for a sunshine holiday but can’t be flexible on your dates. Here are seven reasons why Dubai is a great destination at any time of year.
1. It’s sunny all year round
Dubai is sunny all year round and doesn’t have an off-season. It’s most popular during the winter months, between November and April. The coldest month in Dubai is January, but it’s still a toasty 19°C. While August is the hottest month in Dubai with an average temperature of 36°C.
2. Festivals every month
Dubai’s most popular festival is the Dubai Shopping Festival, where almost every shop in the city has bargains, and the city puts on concerts, children’s entertainment, firework shows and other events alongside it. Other must-visit festivals include the Dubai Marathon (January/February), Dubai International Jazz Festival (February/March), Art Dubai (March/April), Dubai World Cup (March/April), Dubai Rugby Sevens (November/December), and Dubai International Film Festival (November/December).
3. Family fun during the summer
Between June and September you and the family can visit Dubai Parks and Resorts. Within the resort you’ll find four parks: MOTIONGATE™ Dubai, Bollywood Parks™ Dubai, LEGOLAND® Dubai and LEGOLAND® Water Park. On top of that there’s also an on-site hotel, Lapita Hotel Dubai. A short drive away is IMG World of Adventure, Dubai’s largest indoor park, which brings all of your favourite Marvel and Cartoon Network characters to life.
4. Family fun during the winter
The Dubai Mall is the largest shopping and entertainment destination in the world – and it’s open all year! Aside from 70 shopping outlets, The Dubai Mall is home to the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, the Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink, children’s ‘edutainment’ concept KidZania and a massive indoor cinema complex!
5. Traditional Arabic culture
The history of Dubai is fascinating – and history doesn’t change with the seasons! If you’re looking to explore traditional Arabic culture you can do it at any time of year, whether it’s a trip to one of the many souks, a day at the Dubai Museum, a nosey round Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood (one of the oldest in the city!) or a visit to Dubai Creek which was once the hub of Dubai’s main industries: pearl diving and fishing.
6. Luxury shopping on a budget
You’ll come home feeling a million dollars after a holiday in Dubai – without a major dent in your bank account! It is home to some of the best luxury shopping in the world – especially when you consider the competitive pricing. You can also head to the souks where you can pick up some real gold jewellery and precious stones for a low price if you know how to haggle!
7. Famous sights
Dubai is home to some of the world’s most recognisable landmarks: the Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Fountain, and the Burj Khalifa. These landmarks are here all year and with the excellent Dubai weather there isn’t such a thing as an off season in Dubai!
