Accommodation-

The accommodation I stayed in was the Hotel Kramerwirt, one of my favourites of the few we visited.

Trip Overview

Our first day unfortunately, due to bad weather, didn’t go to plan, due to a land slide we couldn’t visit the waterfalls which was first on the agenda. However, I was so impressed with how professionally Inghams dealt with the situation and set up a trip for us which they don’t offer normally on a walking holiday, but it gave us travel agents more time to explore the area. I really enjoyed the day.

We enjoyed the spa in our free time which was a nice touch to have after a long day walking.

The second day is when we experienced what the guests would, with a get up and out for 9am for our first guided walk, we got the public transport and began our walk. At the end, we finished with a bite to eat and a refill of drinks. As for the views and personally being an outdoorsy person, this had to be my favourite part of the trip.

This trip for me has changed my views of what I thought a walking holiday would be like. It has definitely exceeded my expectations and I would love to go back on my own terms and enjoy another trip of my own. I cannot wait to recommend this to my customers.

Accommodation Overview

Hotel Kramerwirt this was one of my best hotels out of the few we visited. It had very traditional Austrian décor, cozy rooms and cute balconies overlooking the views of the mountains. The bathrooms were very modern in comparison to the rest of the room which I do like about a bathroom. I think it made them look very clean and looked after. The hotel overall was very clean. Beautiful scenery if you manage to get a room situated at the front! Very spacious rooms, perfect for families. The spa inside the resort was stunning and very up to date. Unbelievable views from the whirlpool in the spa overlooking outside, couldn’t recommend this enough if you get chance to stay here!

The restaurant was very traditional, and the staff were so polite and friendly. Breakfast was buffet and evening meal was tables being waited on. The 5 course meals were very filling every night with plenty of choice from the menu. I felt as though everyone was thought of with their menu as we had a few girls who were vegetarian, and their needs were definitely met throughout our trip. Overall, brilliant experience in this hotel, had no complaints.

In an amazing location, in the middle of the town of Mayrhofen, restaurants, bars and shops surrounding. I would be up to coming back and staying in this same hotel.

Gasthof Neauhaus Resort was absolutely beautiful – again with the contrast of both modern and traditional. It had some areas that were updated, and others which were kept the same to keep that traditional Austria feel when people visit. They said the older generations appreciate this more, but they get a mixture of guests. In 2020, they had one side of the hotel refurbished, they have a stunning restaurant and seating area. As for rooms we didn’t get to see many of them. However, what we did see, again would be like any hotel standard and then they went all the way up to private apartments with an upstairs bedroom, an amazing balcony view, room for a whole family without splitting into separate rooms, 2 double bedroom and sofa beds. Definitely something I would have to look into when going back.

The thing I liked the most would have to be the garden – a garden of dreams; Swings, greenery, mountain views, pools and beautiful seating.

Forster Hotel was the attachment to the Kramerwirt, right across the road the location perks would be the exactly the same, the rooms were just standard rooms comparing them to the Kramerwirt, clean and bright, rooms big enough for families, friends and couples. They have parking facilities. However, for meals they would have to come across to the Kramerwirt and they do not have access to the spa facilities in Kramerwirt. It would definitely be perfect for someone who is not spending a lot of time in their hotel and wants to save some money on a hotel room because of that.

Strass – Sport & Spa Hotel has a little for everyone; fully equipped gym, full spa and treatments, pools, luxury dining area and expensive looking decor throughout. Beautiful hotel, the difference between both would definitely be the age group that like different tastes in hotels, they try to keep families and couples in the sport and the older generation in the strass. There isn’t much difference between the two others than the sport is newer, and the decor is more modern. However, both have brilliant amenities and beautiful rooms of what we seen. In a great location would recommend, supermarket opposite and the views from the rooms were amazing, even the gym the full glass window whilst working out were unbelievable!

Top Tips

  • Be prepared for any weather conditions, especially when hiking,

There is also free entry and discounts on various activities – perfect for guests who want to go experience the activities and explore the outdoors,

What to Pack

These are things I would recommend:

  • Walking shoes/ Extra comfortable shoes
  • Extra clothes (packing more than you will think you’ll need)
  • Warmer layers especially if hiking
  • Suncream, Sunhats, Sunglasses
  • Water Bottle (you can fill it up most places with the water being drinkable)
  • Backpack
  • Towel and Swim wear to enjoy those spas
  • Cameras and electricals to picture those views and take them home
  • Toiletries/ Sleepwear
  • Evening wear to enjoy the many bars and restaurants

Suitable for which customer-

I would say all customers! There is definitely something for everyone. Different levels of easy, medium and hard walks for different abilities. Something for everyone in the hotels, keeping those levels of tradition and modern deco balanced. Activities that all the family can get involved in. Evening entertainment for everyone such as classy restaurant, brass bands, and lively sports bars.

The guided walks are for everyone. Groups of 12-18 people with an experienced guide telling you facts about what you are seeing whilst on your travels. You get to walk at your own pace, taking pictures and enjoying the breathtaking views. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is wanting to see what the outdoors offers.
