People to People Tourism with P&O Cruises
A couple of months ago P&O Cruises advised that Adonia would be spending the summer of 2016 in the Caribbean. We’re now in a position to share with you some exciting news about a ‘special assignment’ that has been given to Adonia by Carnival Corporation.
Carnival Corporation has today announced the launch of a new brand, fathom, focusing on the growing number of people who want to work alongside local communities as part of their travel experience in such areas as education, the environment and economic development. fathom provides a unique opportunity for people who wish to combine their love of travel and a desire to make a lasting contribution to a worthwhile cause.
Therefore, from April 2016, Adonia will be redeployed for the start up period of the operation sailing out of Miami to the Dominican Republic on a weekly basis and travelers will be working on programmes that make a positive social impact on the communities they visit.
fathom is a new brand created by Carnival Corporation. Its primary aim is to allow travellers interested in People to People tourism to have a chance to help local communities abroad. The voyages have been designed to appeal to the American market but of course all nationalities are welcome on board if they choose this travel experience. fathom voyages went on sale as of 4 June. The itineraries currently go up to October 2016 and fathom are working closely with global humanitarian partners to identify new areas with the hope to expand this deployment moving forward. Further information will be provided once confirmed.
As a result, Adonia cruises D605A (4 March – 35 nights) & D606 (18 March – 21 nights) will be cancelled. All passengers will receive a refund and £100 Future Cruise Credit to be used on a future P&O Cruises holiday. If you are booked on these cruises, you will shortly receive a letter advising of the cancellation and directing you to choose another great cruise holiday.
We are so excited that a P&O Cruises’ ship has been chosen to take on this assignment and look forward to hearing all about the great work done by the fathom team in the future.
