Barrhead Travel Invests in Future Workforce

Barrhead Travel invests in its workforce and has become the 60th member of the 5% club – a campaign focused on the recruitment of apprentices and graduates into the workforce.

The 5% Club membership consists of companies who have signed up to 5% of their UK workforce over the next five years being young people on structured training schemes.

Barrhead Travel has been at the forefront on training modern apprentices for its offices seeing many of them move through the ranks in the business since its inception.

The company’s training programmes invest heavily in its young people helping them carve out a career in the travel industry.

Barrhead Travel has now joined the ranks of FTSE350 companies and similar sized organisations who want to make a difference by investing in young people to unable the UK to compete better in global markets.

The 5% Club is a campaign which is focused on creating momentum behind the recruitment of apprentices and graduates into the workforce.

Barrhead Travel chief executive, Sharon Munro, said: “Training and developing young people has always been at the forefront of our recruitment policy, and it has been fantastic to see them progress. We are a proud member of The 5% Club and we are very happy to make this public commitment to a very worthy campaign which will create a more skilled UK workforce. By joining the club, we have committed to the aim of ensuring that 5% of our UK workforce are apprentices, graduates or sponsored students on structured programmes within the next five years.”
