Olivia recently got back from a wonderful 6-day trip to Salou. This was Olivia’s first Barrhead Travel experience, and she said that she thoroughly enjoyed it. She visited some stunning hotels in Salou and she also experienced the fun filled PortAventura World.

Day 1
On Olivia’s first day, she met everyone at Glasgow airport for a pre-flight breakfast to get to know the people she was going to Salou with better. Olivia’s holiday had a lucky start, and everyone she was flying with got a free upgrade to extra legroom with Jet2holidays. The flight to Reus was between 2 and a half hours and 3 hours. Once landed, the private coach transfer from the airport to Dorada Palace was only around 15 minutes. Once Olivia arrived at the hotel, she dropped off her belongings and went to the buffet for lunch. Later on in the day, she met Javier, who showed them around the Dorada Palace, Piramide Salou and Marinada Hotel and Apartments. Olivia said that her favourite hotel was the Marinada Hotel, as it was a very modern hotel, that the buffet restaurant was a great size, and that the rooms were nice too. Once Olivia returned to the Dorada Palace, she had some free time to relax before dinner.
Day 2
On the second day, Olivia got up and had breakfast at the hotel. She then met Judith, who took them to visit the PortAventura Hotels. They started at a Mediterranean-themed hotel, which has fantastic access to the parks, they then moved on to see the Hotel Caribe, a Caribbean-themed hotel with access to its own little beach. After the Caribe, she went to the El Paso Hotel, a Mexican-themed hotel, the only PortAventura hotel that offers customers all-inclusive. The final hotel that Olivia visited was the Gold River Hotel. This hotel was old, western-themed and was Olivia’s favourite hotel. Once all the hotels had been visited, they then got to go into PortAventura for a few hours. Judith showed them around some of the bigger rides like Shambala and Dragon Khan, which were both amazing.
Day 3
On the third day, Olivia got up early so that she could catch the free bus to the theme park from the hotel. For the two days that Olivia was at the park, Judith organised free lunches for everyone. After spending some time at PortAventura, Judith took them to Ferrari Land, where everyone went on the Red Force Roller Coaster, which was Olivia’s favourite. After spending time at Ferrari Land, there was a dinner organised for them at a restaurant called Cavallino, which was Italian. Olivia said that this was by far the best meal of the whole trip.
Day 4
On day four, Olivia checked out of the Dorada Palace and checked into the Blaumar Hotel. After checking in, Olivia headed to the port area as there was a planned ferry trip to Cambrils. They all had a walk around Cambrils and had some food too before getting the ferry back to Salou and exploring their hotel some more. They had a buffet dinner, and it was great as there were so many options and the food was delicious. Olivia then went out with everyone after dinner and experienced the Salou nightlife, which was great.
Day 5
On day five, Olivia wandered around Salou and had some lunch at the Arena Tapas restaurant with Natalie, who was from the Salou Tourist Board. Olivia said that the food was amazing as she got to try loads of different dishes. After lunch, she went back to the pool area to relax and catch the last rays of sun. She then had her final dinner at the Blaumar and got ready to fly home.
Day 6
Olivia got up early so that she could get the private transfer to Reus airport. The airport was painless when it came to security and boarding. Once back in Glasgow, everyone said their goodbyes and Olivia headed home.
Olivia said that she would highly recommend staying at a PortAventura hotel for families as the direct access to the park is excellent and stress-free. Olivia also said that the Blaumar Hotel was amazing, as the hotel had a great location. Olivia said that for her first fam trip, the overall experience was really good, and everyone who was on the trip was extremely friendly.
