A great hotel recommendation from us at Barrhead Travel would be the Southern Sun Cullinan Hotel Cape Town. This fabulous hotel is in a great area where it is safe to walk to the waterfront and ideal for Table Mountain. There are ocean front views for some of the rooms and there is a shuttle bus provided by the hotel to take you to the waterfront and a vast array of restaurants and shops.

The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The pool area is located on the ground floor with pool towels and suncream provided by the hotel. There are hot and cold breakfast options available and as you eat you will be relaxed as there is a live pianist playing in the background.

Another great hotel option is The President Hotel in Bantry Bay. This hotel is located at the opposite end from the Waterfront but still a great area for restaurants, shopping and long walks as it’s across from the promenade. Again, this hotel has fabulous hot and cold breakfast options, and the rooms are very large with kitchen facilities, a sofa and a spacious dining area. The pool area is very large, and this hotel is very popular with families and friends. There is also a great bar with a wide selection of drinks and there is plenty of space to relax all over the hotel.

The Commodore Hotel V&A Waterfront is another fabulous option. This is an older style hotel; however, the rooms are very clean and there is a wide range of breakfast options. There is a nice bar are and the distance to the waterfront is a key selling point for this hotel as it is only a 1-minute walk.

The waterfront has lots of shops and lovely restaurants. There is a sunset cruise that you can book when you are there which is worth booking. It’s great fun with drinks served on board while you watch the sunset with great views of the harbour.

An alternative hotel option is the Spier Hotel Winelands, Stellenbosch. This luxury hotel has recently just been refurbished. The main restaurant has a great ambiance, and the food service is amazing. There is also an a la carte breakfast option that is cooked to order just for you. There is a sandwich and snack shop where you can buy and have a picnic on the grounds at the hotel. There is also a wine tasting for you to enjoy where it is roughly £5 per person and you get to taste 6 of the best wines on offer. The rooms are luxurious and spacious with a patio area and a fully stocked mini bar. The pool area is fabulous with towels provided for you. There is also a 5k and 10k running track and you can visit the farm on site. The setting is breathtaking. This hotel also has the option where you could hold a small conference.

Aquila Private Game Reserve is a must when visiting South Africa. The rooms are spacious with a bath and a large walk-in shower. These rooms in the main building all face the game reserve and pool area. The restaurant on site serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, the food for all three meals are varied with plenty of choice. This hotel also has 2 bar areas and a spa area with complimentary entry for guests who are staying for more than 2 nights. The game reserve has many options to see the Big 5, early morning or late afternoon. Private tours/group tours/horse riding and quad biking are all available to book.

Key activities available to book include:

  • Cable cars to the top of Table Mountain for breathtaking views of Cape Town.
